Friday Favourites #4: Mad Men edition

Will I ever stop talking about how much I love Mad Men? Probably not. Most of you are already familiar with this epic series, but if you're not: 1) SHAME ON YOU and 2) Go watch it immediately! Everyone who is slightly interested in everything retro and vintage will love this. Vintage camera

Do you remember I told you about the awesome vintage camera my boyfriend gave me for our first anniversary? Well, I promised you to show my precious soon, but forgot all about it. Until today, when I took it out for its first spin and took a few pictures with it! Can't wait to see the results, I'm pretty sure they'll turn out better than my normal camera. Not I'm such a vintage and retro freak (I totally am) but just because you can't beat good old mechanics, yo :D 

What I'm wearing:
shorts, tank top: H&M

shoes: New Look

Just a casual outfit for spending my day... studying. Yes, I'm still doing that thing where I try to memorize a whole bunch of Arabic words and wonder why on earth I chose to study such a difficult language. And why I didn't study more during the year :D At least there's one light in this never ending darkness: my boyfriend is here again <3 How I've missed our evening talks, random teasing and cuddles! I don't know how people survive long distance relationships where they don't see each other for months (and not only sexually, haha :D) I'm getting cranky when I don't see my boyfriend for a week! /END cheesiness

Zou Bisou Bisou

I know I've worn this dress before here, which is apparently a fashion crime (GASP!), but you know, it would be a shame to not show this pretty dress more than once! How can you not love this lace 60s style beauty? I don't know why, but I feel like I'm moving on from the 50s style (pleated skirts, poofy silhouettes and perfect pin curls) to a more modern, 60s style. Maybe it's just because Mad Men has transformed into one mod dresses and eyeliner paradise, and I'm just a sucker for that show. So sad I finished the 5th season :( Maybe I'll just start watching again from season 1 to feed my addiction! So don't be surprised if I walk around like a 50s housewife again this summer ;)

Nail polish: Barry M (my first, and I love it!)

Unless you want to look like you walked straight out a costume drama,  I think the key to a successful look is to combine one vintage (or vintage style) piece with modern accessories, like I did with these neon earrings, quirky ring and mint green nail polish. (Sorry if I toot my own horn too much but I really loved this outfit!) Megan Draper would approve of the eyeliner though. And my Zou Bisou Bisou move:

I tried to find a picture of her doing this exact pose while singing that song, but I couldn't find it :( Just watch the scene and you'll recognise my awesome imitation. Ahem.

You bet I sang this song in my room about ten times already. Dance moves included! 

Denim & dots

One of the things I've been searching for so long but still haven't found: a denim shirt! I found this shirt in my sister's closet (again), but it's still not the perfect denim shirt, it's too long and you can't button it up completely. So the quest continues!

Ah, these shoes... they are probably the oldest shoes in my closet, dating back to when I still wore jeans and an tee everyday! How the times have changed... But I always kept my them in the back of my closet, knowing that they'd come out handy someday. I love heels and I love the elegance and sexiness of a pencil skirt with high heels, but sometimes you just don't want to risk twisting your ankle on the cobblestones, do you? I' probably have to say All Stars are 'comfy', but as I hate that word with a fiery passion, I'd say they're 'easy' :D

Yes, I wear fake glasses because I secretly hope they make me smarter. No such luck though: I have my second exam the day after tomorrow and I still need to memorize half of my book. So I'm sorry for not being very talkative today, I promise I'll be back with another outfit in a few days! 

Weekly favourites #3

I should really think of another name for this feature, as I'm only doing this every two weeks from now on! Any suggestions?

A recently discovered blog: Fashionvibe! I'm in love with this outfit: the mint jeans, the heels, amazing jacket (I'm paying a visit to Zara tomorrow in search for this baby) and a pair of pretty sunglasses on top of it <3

I'm really looking forward to my holiday to Turkey next month, and I found this picture of Istanbul on this tumblr, amongst other amazing travel photos. Beware: it's highly addictive!

I've never been a fan of the wedge sneakers that are all over the blogosphere, but I must say Paulien (left picture) can definitely pull them off! Love the other girl's outfit too, simple but stylish! (via the Sartorialist)

A boyfriend jeans has been on my wishlist for quite some time, but I haven't found what I wanted yet! In the meantime, I get inspiration from Elien (Dogs & Dresses) & Betty (Le Blog de Betty), two different combinations that I both like very much.


And to conclude: Charlotte from Girl Next Door Fashion has arrived on her amazing summer job in New Jersey, and despite a not so great start I'm sure she'll have the time of her life! Follow her adventures here.

Military

I told you I was going to steal my sister's jacket! I wanted something to add some colour to my casual study outfit, along with my favourite shoes. And as I actually wanted to buy this jacket for myself first but then changed my mind because she looked amazing in it, it is partly mine! :D

Do you like my new tattoo? Haha kidding, I just drew it myself :D I must say, spending 8 hours a day behind your desk really boosts your creativity! My concentration is less than zero these days, I get distracted by literally EVERYTHING. I'm the worst student ever! God knows how I already passed 3 exam periods with only one failed exam. (shhht!)
Oh, and is this hair donut the best invention ever or what? It gives you a glamourous look AND it keeps your hair out of the way while studying: Double win!
