Beanie & Black

The weather has been crazy lately: a few days ago I was walking around bare-legged, and today I had to put on a jacket and my beanie! Speaking of: I never thought a beanie would look good on me, but I tried this one on at the H&M men's department last week and I thought it looked quite good! Now my question is: do you take it off when going inside (hello frizzy and flat hair!) or do you leave it on like the cool kids? :D
Sorry if these pictures are a little blurry, I took then quickly before it started raining again and it was getting dark already. You might remember  (hate those old posts!) the background as my private roof terrace, I was too lazy to get outside and walk around to find a good photo spot so the roof it is. My street is a good background too, but there are lots of people passing by so setting up my tripod in the middle of the street wouldn't be such a good idea!

Life update + question!

I know, I've been a terrible blogger lately. I've been so busy (God that sounds pretentious, doesn't it?) with both working at the coffee bar and studying and doing schoolwork... But I promise I'm back in the regular blogging rhytm from now on! What has happened this week? Well, I got myself a little present in the form of a (secondhand) iPhone! It's a 3GS, but in great condition and frankly, I'm probably the only person who likes the design of the 3GS more than the 4G - less square and manly! Anyway, here's what I've been up to the past week:

Combining work with pleasure... ;)

Warm milk with honey and comfort food = perfect remedy against this awful cold I'm having!

Studying... I have to write a paper this year, and I chose 'Islamic extremist movements in Europe'. First step: collecting all my sources!

Experimenting with photo apps (Pixlromatic, Vintage Cam and LINE camera are my favourites!)
Of course I've also been wearing clothes! Just not photographing them very often... This is what I wore yesterday.
And taking silly pictures of myself! You should can follow me on instagram (@mademoisielle)

Now I have a question for you guys: As you might know (or not), I play in an orchestra and we're having our bi-annual concert on two weeks. It's not a regular concert, as there will be artists performing with us (two singers, a violin player and a trombone quartet). Normally we wear our uniform (this should give you an idea how that looks like :D) on a concert, but this time they decided to go all fancy so the dress code is black evening wear. As usual, I can't decide what to wear, so I'm asking your advice:

Black gala dilemma

I narrowed it down to 3 options:

1) My black lace pencil skirt with a black peplum top OR
2) My little black dress (this one, the one on the collage is just for illustrating!) OR
3) this high low skirt from Asos (only about 9 euros in the sale!) with a simple black top.
And then the shoes: the glitter sandals or the (really high) peeptoes?
Help me out here! I'll probably order the skirt anyway because I really love it after seeing Sabina looking smoking hot in a similar skirt and it's really cheap :D But I'd love to hear your opinions on the outfit choice! You should probably also know that my fellow musicians aren't that fashion-minded (Sorry guys if you read this, but you did give me a lot of strange looks when I was wearing my leggings a few weeks ago, so I'm not exaggerating here :D) so all of these outfits would be ok, but just help me out here OK? :D
See you soon!

Fall wishlist

I know, I know: a fall wishlist is about the most cliché thing to blog about at the moment. But hey, I just got my paycheck from my job and we all know what that means: shopping time! Or, as I like to call it, "supporting the economy". Ahem.

Fall Wishlist

Clockwise:
1. I've been looking for a big black (preferably leather) bag for ages to carry all my stuff in when I go to class, but I can't seem to find the perfect one! This one's from Zara.
2. A faux fur coat, ideally a leopard one. Some people find faux fur tacky, but I think it really gives some 'chav chic' vibes to an outfit, as Annebeth would say ;)
3. Maxi skirt, in nude or some other colour: I think this one would look great with my leather jacket when it gets colder!
4. Slouchy knits: perfect for colder evenings.
5. Printed pants: because they really make you stand out among all the grey and black other people are wearing during fall/winter!
6. Gold jewellery, to spice up a casual outfit.
7. Burgundy or oxblood is the perfect fall colour!
8. Studded collar: I've really been into studs lately! Don't worry, I'm not going back to the old emo/metal puberty days (don't we all have that one embarrassing period in our teenage years?), but studded accessories or shoes can really spice up an outfit imo.
9. I know, sunglasses in fall? The truth is: I wear sunglasses all the time when I'm outside, even in winter! I'm very sensitive to light, and it looks classy, no?

I see what you're thinking: where are the shoes? Don't worry: I thought the shoes deserved a collage of their own:

Fall-proof shoes

1. Ok, I know I bitched about these shoes in the past, but I'm completely sold now: they are epic! These are not Jeffrey Campbell's Lita's, but they do look very alike, no? In fact, I ordered them just yesterday! Can't wait for them to arrive. Even my boyfriend likes them! SCORE
2. Glitter boots. No explanation needed.
3. Still desperately in need of some leopard loafers!
4. Again, the ultimate fall colour.
5. Black platform wedges: Way more practical than heels with all the cobblestones in my town!
6. The perfect red boots!
7. What did I tell you about studs? :D

So, what's on your wishlist?

Leggings

If you follow me on facebook (and you totally should!), you have already seen me posting about these awesome leggings I scored at H&M. I have never really been into leggings, I always thought they made my ass look weird. BUT Lana Del Rey looking amazing in those H&M ads that are showing up everywhere won me over! Of course I wanted to give these leggings the attention they deserve so I decided to wear them just as pants. SHOCK
Ok, I admit I hav frowned at people wearing leggings without covering their ass in the past, but I'm totally getting it now. In fact, I've been wearing them constantly since I bought them, they're so soft! Go get yourself a pair at H&M, only 9.95 euros!

AFN: the outfit

So this is what I wore for Antwerp Fashion Night! As Hanna said in her post, it's hard to choose an outfit for an event like this: you don't want to look 'too much',it's still a fashion event so you have to look stylish. I really wanted to wear my sneakers (I wear them all the time, seriously!), but I think the dress makes it less casual! Add to that a messy bun on my head, my leather jacket that I love so much and my signature red lipstick and I was ready to go! I got quite some compliments during the day! (and some strange looks and whistling from men, but whatever...) What do you think of my outfit?
Thanks Steffi and Hanna for the pictures btw!
